He told them, \u201cMy soul is crushed with grief to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.\u201d\nHe went on a little farther and fell to the ground. He prayed that, if it were possible, the awful hour awaiting him might pass him by. \u201cAbba, Father,\u201d he cried out, \u201ceverything is possible for you. Please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.\u201d\n<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Why do you think Jesus singled out Peter, James and John to accompany him?<\/li><li>What did Jesus ask the disciples to do?  Why?<\/li><li>Was Jesus praying &#8220;out of God&#8217;s will&#8221; here? Why or why not?<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-verse\">Mark 14:37-42\n<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The Disciples in Gethsemane<\/span><\/strong>\nThen he returned and found the disciples asleep. He said to Peter, \u201cSimon, are you asleep? Couldn\u2019t you watch with me even one hour? Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak.\u201d\nThen Jesus left them again and prayed the same prayer as before. When he returned to them again, he found them sleeping, for they couldn\u2019t keep their eyes open. And they didn\u2019t know what to say.\nWhen he returned to them the third time, he said, \u201cAre you still sleeping and taking your rest? It is enough; the hour has come. The Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. Up, let\u2019s be going. Look, my betrayer is here!\u201d\n<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>How does Jesus connect the importance of prayer in crisis situations?  Why is this so hard for the disciples (and for us)?<\/li><li>What stands out to you from this part of the account?<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-verse\">Mark 14:43-50\n<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Betrayal and Arrest of Jesus<\/span><\/strong>\nAnd immediately, while he was still speaking, Judas came, one of the twelve, and with him a crowd with swords and clubs, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders. Now the betrayer had given them a sign, saying, \u201cThe one I will kiss is the man. Seize him and lead him away under guard.\u201d And when he came, he went up to him at once and said, \u201cRabbi!\u201d And he kissed him. And they laid hands on him and seized him. But one of those who stood by drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest and cut off his ear. And Jesus said to them, \u201cHave you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs to capture me? Day after day I was with you in the temple teaching, and you did not seize me. But let the Scriptures be fulfilled.\u201d And they all left him and fled.  \nAnd a young man followed him, with nothing but a linen cloth about his body. And they seized him, but he left the linen cloth and ran away naked.<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>What is significant about the signal that Judas used to identify Jesus to the crowd? <\/li><li>What are some of the &#8220;details&#8221; from the other gospels that Mark omits?
